Fabio Storms Chicago – Enter the Great Taste Challenge before it is too late!

Fabio learned firsthand why they call Chicago The Windy City as he led a cooking demonstration at Reva Restaurant on the popular lake-front Navy Pier. With 70-plus in the audience, and the wind howling off Lake Michigan, Fabio worked his way through a demonstration of Pancetta Wrapped Jumbo Shrimp. It went well…but we learned that cooking demos are probably best suited for the great indoors.

“Whoa,” cried Fabio. “When I gave the pan a shake, I thought the wind was going to blow the shrimp right into the lake. Maybe the shrimp would have been happy there.”

The ever energetic Fabio, with business partner Jacopo Falleni, stormed through Chicago July 30 thru August 1 conducting 14 events including book signings, private and public lunches and dinners and media interviews

After lunch at the Lake Bluff, Illinois headquarters of Terlato Wines International, Fabio and Anthony Terlato conducted a book signing at the prestigious Book Stall in Winnetka, Illinois. Fabio and his co-author Jacopo Falleni signed the Café Firenze Cookbook and Tony Terlato signed Taste: A Life in Wine. FYI, Terlato introduced Pinot Grigio to America 30 years ago and is often referred to as, “The father of Pinot Grigio.”.

Fabio and Jacopo talked with WLUP, WLS and WGN Radio, plus WGN-TV and Michigan Avenue magazine. They also entertained crowds at book signings and wine tasting events–Binny’s Beverage Depot. Wild Fire, 437 Rush, Riva and Fox & Obel.

At each stop Fabio encouraged fans to enter the Great Taste Challenge. With an August 31 deadline approaching, the time to enter is now! Go to the Great Taste Challenge section of this web site. Upload a homemade video with an original recipe that pairs with one of the Santa Margherita wines. Watch for the innovative collection of recipes, all of which are complemented by Santa Margherita’s collection of authentic, Italian wines — Pinot Grigio, Chianti Classico, and Prosecco.

You could be one of three finalists and, ultimately, the winner of the Great Taste Challenge. The winner will receive a trip for two to Los Angeles, dinner with Fabio, and more!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Santa Margherita Great Taste Challenge! An idea that sprouted from our love of great wine and unique cuisine, this challenge successfully combines these two elements in a new and exciting way.

We believe that the thoughtful pairing of great wine and food brings every gathering to a new level. As America’s favorite imported wine, Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio has long complemented some of the best home-cooking across the country. With the recent release of Santa Margherita Prosecco and Chianti Classico, America’s aspiring chefs now have the perfect range of wines to pair with their delicious recipes.

Through the Great Taste Challenge, we’ve opened the door for food and wine lovers to share their favorite, original recipes. All they need to do is upload a homemade video where they discuss their unique dish and how it pairs with one of the Santa Margherita wines. We are using this challenge to set the stage for an innovative collection of recipes, all of which are complemented by Santa Margherita’s collection of authentic, Italian wines — Pinot Grigio, Chianti Classico, and Prosecco.

With the help of renowned chef, Fabio Viviani, we will select three finalists and, ultimately, one winner of the Great Taste Challenge.
